Skill training at Nagrota

In small yet edifying function held at Panchayat Office in Marh, Nagrota Block and inaugurated 6 months skill development programme on Plumbing for the socially excluded youths. The gathering included Ch. Noor Mohammad, Sarpanch of Marh Panchayat, Mr. Talib Hussain, Naib Sarpanch of Bamyal, Mr. Shallo Ram, Panch of Darabi and was attended by community leaders, beneficiaries, and representatives from CSSS.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch. Noor Mohammad, Sarpanch of the Marh Panchayat informed that CSSS team has their presence in the area since last one year and leading the community for improving the livelihood and educational status. He also said the quality of education in the entire area is miserable and as a result the children do not perform well in the higher studies and are compelled to indulge into low waged work for their livelihood due to lack of skill and their poor education. He shared that this kind of programme will not only make them skilled but will also generate livelihood opportunities. He appreciated the dedication of the team and the agency in reaching out to the backward and neglected areas and work for their development.

Mr. Talib Hussain, Naib Sarpanch of Bamyalwhile recounting his experience of the services provided by the governments in his Panchayat, shared that the services are not able to cater to the deserving youths because of the negligence from the part of the state. He also said that these days are lot many opportunities are available from different actors on plumbing but due to the lack of skill and certificate they are not able to tap those opportunities. This kind of programme will definitely benefit the youths of the target areas.

Mr. Shallo Ram, Panch of Darabi encouraged the candidates to undergo the training properly and explore new job opportunities with the required skill. He also assured that he would extend his full support to the team in mobilizing the community for the betterment of the fellow people who are in need.

Fr Shaiju Chacko, the Director of CSSS said that in the first phase in the area the team and the organization through series of meetings and consultations assessed the community and developed programmes accordingly. The skill development on Plumbing is one such programme intended to cater to the need of the socially excluded youths by skilling them in the aforesaid trade. The candidates will not only learn but will also get exposed to wider opportunities to support in the family income. After the successful completion of the programme they will be awarded with certificates and will also be enrolled with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for additional certificates and recognition. He also emphasized on transferring the ownership to the community through regular monitoring of the programme.
