Today, CSSS conducted vegetable seed distribution programme in Bishnah area. Under this program, vegetable seeds were distributed among 68 SHGs of Bishnah Block. The program provided a diverse range of five seasonal vegetable seeds in a kit, tailored to empower rural women by promoting vegetable cultivation as a viable and enriching source of livelihood.
The seeds selected are not only compatible with the local climatic conditions and soil types but are also expected to yield optimal growth, thereby ensuring a successful harvest. The CSSS believes that equipping these groups with the means to grow their own food is a fundamental step towards self-sufficiency and societal well-being. The program also includes training sessions for SHG members on proper planting techniques, pest control, and harvesting methods.
These sessions are meticulously planned to cover essential aspects of agriculture, such as proper planting techniques, effective pest control measures, and efficient harvesting methods. Such educational support is crucial in maximizing the potential of the distributed seeds and fostering a culture of informed and sustainable farming practices among the participants.
The initiative has been met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the SHG members, who view this as an opportunity to not only secure their food sources but also to secure additional source of income.
